The worlds Nick creates within his installations and animations are disjointed alternate realities that are controlled, dominated and madecorrupt by television. Nothing but television exists and humans are obsolete.
These worlds act as distorted reflections of our own reality, with an exaggerated focus on the channels through which information is received and processed, in particular the domestic television set. To what extent does the information we're receiving correspond with what is actually going on in the world? How does that affect the perception and construction of our day to day experience?
Using the same starting point, Nick's work on canvas focuses more on the concept of decay and deterioration. Scrap and found objects are used alongside new materials which have been artificially aged, to create pieces which embrace and highlight the aesthetics of decay. They also work in conjunction with Nick's installation pieces to emphasise the continuous decay of the realities we construct for ourselves, based on the crumbling foundations of second-hand and filtered information.
